Upcoming July Special Programs:   

Express Yourself & Get Messy with Art on Saturday! Artist of the Month is Freda Kahlo  10:30-11:15am every Saturday for kids ages 3-8 years old and their caregivers. We will be looking into mexican art, self-portraits and paintings inspired by our families and cultures. Cost: $2 per child.  Space is limited. Same day registration is usually possible. 


August Special Programs:   


Thursday, August 8 ~ 4:00-5:00pm: Science Alive! Infinity & Beyond: This is the third of a series of new monthly programs based on hands-on science education. During our August drop-in program learn about our solar system. Everyone will have a chance to make their own planet.  Free with admission and for members. No sign up required.

Thursday, August 12 ~ 4:00-5:30pm: Color Craze! with FRANK: Join Kidzu at the FRANK Gallery as we explore the new exhibit "Colors," focusing on the impact of colors as they stand alone and as they interact and juxtapose with one another. Participating local artists will then join us back at Kidzu as we shake up the color spectrum, making colorful masterpieces of our own!  Program will meet in the lobby of Kidzu. $12 per child, ages 4 and up. Registration is required.
 
Thursday, August 26 ~ 10:15-11am : Preschool Painting with Evan: "Back to School with Picasso" Join certified art teacher Evan Hirasawa for this hands-on imaginative drawing and painting class. Evan helps children explore their world through positive and nurturing instruction. Young children with special needs are welcome. $6 per child, ages 2-7 years. Registration is required.

Express Yourself with Art on Saturday! Artist of the Month for August is Niki de Saint-Phalle  10:30-11:15am every Saturday for kids ages 3-8 years old and their caregivers. This month we will be building a sculpture to display at Kidzu. Each week we will do a different part of the construction: Aug. 7: Building the skeleton frame; Aug. 14: Paper Mache; Aug. 21: Paint the sculpture; Aug. 28: Adding Mosaic touches. Cost: $2 per child.  Space is limited. Same day registration is usually possible.

Sunday, August 18 ~ 1:30pm: Spanish/English Storytime For ages 4-7. Admission is Free every Sunday

 

 

 

NEW FALL CLASSES AT KIDZU ~ JaminBaby with Erica Berry: Friday's 9am (Sept 17th-Nov 19th)  JamminBaby is pleased to present this Music Together® 10-week program for families with children birth through 5 years. Music Together® is the pioneer in early childhood music curriculum. Registration begins on August 1st. Around Town this Summer:

Kidzu joins Locally Grown Outdoor Movie Series. Create fun crafts at the Kidzu booth before each movie. These free family-friendly movie events will take place July 15, August 5 & 9. Pre-show entertainment & activities will start at 8pm, with movies beginning at sundown. Events will take place atop the Wallace Parking Deck at 150 East Rosemary Street.


Ongoing Activities:

Learn some Spanish/English at Kidzu!  Free Bilingual (Spanish/English) Storytime. Join us August 18th at 1:30pm. Once a month Kidzu will host a free bilingual storytime filled with interactive and educational activities games & stories and a fun craft project too. Presented in Spanish and English for children ages 2 to 8 with an adult. First-time museum visitors that attend this program will receive free admission to the museum for the rest of the day. Hora de cuentos bilingüe (espanol/ingles). Gratis!  el 18 de agosto. Kidzu se presentan un hora de cuentas, en español e inglés para los años de niños 2 a 8 con un adulto.
