Wednesday, October 28: Kids in the Kitchen Workshop: “Haunted Treats”: During this event, kids made fun Halloween themed treats, learned about making simple recipes, and made a fun take-home craft that got them in the “spirit” for Halloween fun.

Wednesday, September 30: Kids in the Kitchen Workshop: “Dog Gone Fun”: During this event, kids made homemade dog biscuits and decorated doggie bags for the Orange County Animal Services Center.

Friday, September 11: Puzzling it Out (An Ackland-Kidzu Collaboration): The artist Aldwyth made images that required careful looking to figure them out.  The children became detectives to determine what the artist was trying to say visually.

Saturday, August 15: Soundscape Adventure Workshop: Participants join Jody Cassell to create the sound textures of the adventure through the rattle, swish and whirr of household objects, rhythms and voice.

Saturday, August 15: Where’s Leon?: Interactive storytelling show with Durham-based author, Jody Cassell, as she made her book, Where’s Leon? come alive.

Wednesday, August 12: Kids in the Kitchen Workshop: “Get Your Juices Going”: We made some great summer drinks and learned about simple recipes

May 26: Carrboro Garden Workshop  During this amazing collaborative workshop kids had a taste of the garden:  Thanks to the Orange County Partnership and the Carrboro Farmers’ Market.

Friday, May 8: Texture in Art Workshop: an Ackland Collaborative Event Hosted by the Ackland Art Museum & Kidzu Children's Museum: Children explored art how artists use lines, shapes, colors, and materials to create illusionistic texture. 


Sunday, April 19: Art in the Garden Workshop: Local author Pamela Pease will shared her book “The Garden is Open” about the sister garden on Gimghoul Road. Using the garden as a studio, kids searched the garden for colors and shapes and then created their own pencil and pastel masterpieces.

Wednesday, April 22: Go Green Celebration: During this all day event Kidzu focused on empowering children to become active participants in conserving our Earth's natural resources with storytimes, games, and crafts.

Wednesday, April 22: Music Making Workshop and Show: Workshop participants made earth-friendly instruments from lots of different materials and then played along with our special guest band providing music for the whole museum

Sunday, March 15. Kidzu's Anniversary & March Madness Party: With music by Dennis Schaecher

Sunday March 22. Learn about Be Active Kids and how to teach children that physical activity, healthy eating, and food safety can be fun.

February 14.  Valentine's Day Concert with Loony Tunes. Great local band that plays music for the two to six year old set.  

February 18.  Kids in the Kitchen Workshop: "Let's Play with our Food." Using the book "Play with your Food" by Joost Elffers as the backdrop, kids will be invited to think creatively about food. We'll have a variety of ingredients for kids to create fun and silly faces with food. $4 per child. (ages 4-9) Space is limited and prepaid registration is required.

February 13, 4:30-5:30pm. Asian Art Workshop with Ackland Art Museum.  C
ollaborative program by Ackland Art Museum and Kidzu Children's Museum. Children explored how Asian artists celebrate nature through screens and scroll paintings at Ackland. Then at the Kidzu art studio, children made their own scrolls with paints, dried plants, and other materials, while six- to eight-year olds embellish paper lanterns with natural.
 

Sunday, Feb. 15 from 1:30-3:30pm Ask-the-Expert Event: "Healthy Vision for Kids" with Dr. Matthew D. Vizithum.
