About Kidzu Children's Museum

  • Kidzu’s Mission and Vision

Kidzu’s mission is to inspire children and the adults in their lives to learn through play.  Kidzu’s vision for the future is to become one of the best community children’s museums in the country and, through partnerships with local educational and cultural institutions, an innovator in museum-based education for children.

  • Kidzu Children’s Museum is an interactive museum for young children and families located in downtown Chapel Hill, NC. We offer exceptional hands-on exhibits and weekly programs for young children (0-8 years) from Orange, Durham and Chatham counties and beyond. During the museum's first two years of operation, Kidzu featured traveling exhibits rented from other children's museums. In summer 2008, Kidzu unveiled its first original exhibit "KidZoom: The Power of Creativity" celebrating our community's creativity.  Kidzu also provides field trips for schools, preschools and child care centers and other groups and is a great location for birthday parties.

  • Kidzu was founded in March, 2006 by over 100 community volunteers. The museum is currently located in a 2,700 square foot former storefront on historic Franklin Street, just across from the University of North Carolina. We are planning an expansion to a much larger, permanent home over the next few years.  As a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization, Kidzu is supported by a combination of admission fees, memberships, grants, and private contributions.

  • We invite you to stop by and check us out. We can’t wait to see you at Kidzu!
